Terms of Service
Please read these terms before using Kind Closure. By using our website, you agree to them.
Last updated: 16 June 2026
1. About Kind Closure
Kind Closure provides online tools to help individuals map their digital footprint, create encrypted legacy files, and help executors manage account closures after death. The service is operated from the United Kingdom.
2. Not legal advice
Kind Closure is not a solicitor, law firm, or estate planning service. Nothing on this website — including generated email templates, form text, checklists, or guides — constitutes legal advice.
Our tools are administrative aids only. They do not create a valid will, codicil, or legally binding instruction. For probate, inheritance tax, and estate law, you must consult a qualified solicitor in your jurisdiction.
We make no guarantee that companies (Facebook, Google, Netflix, etc.) will accept or act on generated correspondence. Each company has its own policies and may change them without notice.
3. Who may use the service
You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to make decisions about your digital affairs. Executors using the portal must act in accordance with their legal authority (e.g. Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration where required).
4. How the service works
Free features include the Digital Footprint Checklist, Executor quick-start guide, and Executor Portal (always free for families).
Paid downloads: Your first encrypted .legacy file from the Legacy Planner requires a one-time fee (currently £4.99, inclusive of VAT where applicable). Downloading an updated file after importing and editing an existing lockbox requires a separate one-time fee (currently £2.99). Prices are shown at checkout.
You are solely responsible for:
- Choosing and remembering your encryption passphrase
- Storing your .legacy file securely
- Sharing the file and passphrase with your executor through safe, separate channels
- Keeping your legacy file up to date as your accounts change
If you lose your passphrase or .legacy file, we cannot recover it. We never had access to it.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for unlawful purposes or to impersonate others
- Attempt to bypass security, access our systems, or disrupt the website
- Submit false information to companies using our generated templates
- Resell or commercially exploit the service without our written permission
6. Intellectual property
The Kind Closure website, branding, and tool design are our intellectual property. You may use generated templates and downloaded files for personal estate planning purposes. You may not copy or republish the website or tools as a competing service.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant that:
- Generated templates will achieve account closure with any company
- Company links, email addresses, or procedures will remain current
- The website will be uninterrupted or error-free
We update platform information regularly but cannot guarantee accuracy at all times.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kind Closure shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of the service — including loss of data, failed account closures, continued subscription charges, or account security breaches on third-party platforms.
Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or £10 if you used only free features).
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
9. Payments and refunds
Paid downloads are subject to our separate Refund Policy.
10. Changes to the service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We will not reduce the zero-knowledge privacy architecture without updating our Privacy Policy.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to your statutory rights as a consumer in the UK.
